Five checks from the driver's seat
- Look up behind the mirror. A plastic housing with a lens pointing up the road is the forward camera. It drives the GMC Pro Safety features, and it means recalibration on every replacement.
- Look beside the mirror housing. A small clear puck pressed against the glass is the rain and light sensor. It needs the right bracket and a fresh gel pad, but no calibration: see rain and light sensors.
- Start the truck in daylight and look ahead of the wheel. A floating display over the hood means head-up display glass, which is far more common on Denali trims than on anything wearing a Chevrolet badge.

The upper Sierra trims are where the content stacks up. A Denali is likely to have the forward camera, the acoustic interlayer and the rain sensor together, and quite possibly the head-up display and the de-icer as well, which puts it in a different price conversation from a work trim on the same platform. Trucks equipped for hands-free highway driving add a further requirement: the calibration has to be done to the manufacturer's procedure and documented, because the system steers on the strength of what that camera reports.
