Decision rule: when DIY is reasonable
Treat these as conditions that must all be true, not a menu.
- The damage is a bullseye or a small half moon, roughly quarter size or smaller, with no legs running from it.
- It is at least 2 inches from any edge of the glass and not over an embedded antenna, sensor bracket or heating element.

- It has not penetrated to the inner ply. Run a fingernail on the inside of the glass: if you feel anything, stop.

- The vehicle is older and out of warranty, with no camera or sensor mounted near the damage, and you accept a cosmetic mark.
- You are comfortable following a procedure exactly, in shade, at the right glass temperature, without rushing.

Will my insurance still pay if my DIY attempt fails?
