Cold glass. Below roughly 50 degrees Fahrenheit, resin thickens and flow slows dramatically. Moisture in the break. Water has to be driven out as vapor before resin goes in, or you get a cloudy repair with poor bonding. If the car has just been washed or has sat in rain, expect an extra 5 to 15 minutes of drying, and expect the technician to be unhappy about it.
Contamination. An old break full of road film needs more alternating vacuum and pressure cycles to move the resin past the debris. Add 5 to 10 minutes and accept a slightly less clear result.
Drilling. Any break with no open path to the surface needs an entry drilled, and that is done at low speed with frequent checks so the bur does not overheat the glass or run the break. It is only a couple of minutes of drilling but it usually signals a break that will also need more injection cycles.
Awkward position. Damage close to the edge, close to the mirror bracket or in the deeply curved corner of a modern raked windshield makes a good bridge seal harder to get. Sometimes the technician has to remount two or three times.

When you can drive
Immediately. There is no safe drive-away time for a repair because nothing structural was removed and nothing needs to chemically cure over hours. The resin is polymerized by ultraviolet light while the technician stands there, and it is hard before the razor blade touches it. The only aftercare worth following: keep a high pressure wash wand off the repair for about 24 hours, and if a curing tab was left on the glass, peel it off after a day rather than scraping it. That is the whole list.

Two scheduling rules
First, do not book a mobile repair for the hottest part of a summer afternoon or the coldest hour of a winter morning if you can avoid it. Mid morning and late afternoon give a technician glass closer to the ideal working range, and a job that starts in good conditions finishes faster and cleaner.
Second, do not wash the car before the appointment. It feels courteous and it costs you time, because water forced into the break has to be driven back out before any resin can go in. Park the car under cover, tape over the chip if you have clear tape handy, and leave the glass alone.
